Re: Jobs mostly flat since 2001
The weak guidance given to college students continues to be an ongoing peeve of mine. So many students decide, because of some kind of infatuation or other whim, to major in psychology, English, marine biology, history, or other non job related field. After graduation they find out the reality that almost no jobs are available and the ones that are don't pay much. These generic, non technical degrees generally lead nowhere. Most of these graduates either go back to school or they end up working low level government jobs or move into areas like sales, real estate, or low level retail management. What a shame that more of the students aren't channeled into technical areas where workers are in demand and pay is high and increasing.
