Wow, and what kind of FUD are you promoting by comparing Monckton's to Clarence Cook Little? Essentially, your rather childish argument is:
1) "Monckton has gained "hero like status".
2) Clarence Cook Little also achieved some similar status to Monckton.
3) We all know Clarence Cook Little is a cigarette cancer denier
Ergo Monckton can't be trusted and is like the cigarette denier.
You also began with the assertion that Monckton's statements have been widely debunked. There have been many efforts to debunking Monckton's arguments but rarely is there any effective attempts to debunk his arguments in person. Monckton typically challenges those who want to debunk his statements to public debates which are rarely accepted and he provides written responses to those attempting to debunke his comments that typically do a very good job of making a complete fool out of those attempting to do that. Similar to the fool you made of yourself with your comments without any help from me.
And by the way, I always believed that the scientific evidence that cigarettes cause cancer was very strong. I was an early adopter of the idea that man has caused most of the global warming. Until of course, I took another look at the science years later and found to my rather overwhelming surprise that I was wrong. I was rather dismayed by this as I had in the past discussed global warming with people and told them about the scientific view and the green house effect which was undisputed. It was hard to change from a global warmist to a skeptic but I am following where the science leads - not where the so called "consensus" leads.
One other point, the fossil fuel industry is very little involved in the AGW skeptic movement. The main reason is that any involvement by them would be counterproductive. Imagine if there were evidence that the fossil fuel industry actually supported AGW skeptics in any meaningful way rather than just the endless suspicion! The AGW alarmists on the other hand are the beneficiary of tens of billions of dollars from various governments, the UN, green energy corporations, the beneficiaries of carbon trading schemes, the fossil fuel industry in order to appease the envirnmentalists or in order to attack the coal industry.
