fresh and waste water costTakes from Greenhunter presentation on water for Hydrofracking: - Fresh water: Costs per barrel has increased from 21c a barrel to 50c a barrel. A barrel is 42 gallons, accordingly water cost for a water frac equate to $36K at 3 million gallons to $71K at 6 million gallons, and $142K for 12 million gallons fracs. - Waste water cost: 15% to 30% of fresh water comes back as flow back, or 900K gallons to 1.8m gallons flow back for a 6 million gallons frac, at a cost of $1 to $11 per barrel, or $21000 to $235000 at 15% flow back, to $42K to $471K at 30% flow back. If we were to take a well as an example: Fresh water cost: 50c per barrel Water used: 5 million gallons (119K barrels) Flow back: 20% (24K barrels) Treatment cost: $5.5 per barrel Water cost: Fresh water: $60K Waste Water: $132K Total: $192K Apparently the Marcellus is the most expensive in dealing with waste water, Eagle Ford is cheaper, but fresh water is harder to obtain. I strongly advice watching their presentation to have a better idea about the challenges and costs associated with managing fresh and waste water for hydrocrackers, the trends look VERY favorable for Gasfrac waterless technology: vcall.com/console/ConsoleFrameset.asp?ID=167398&brand=vcall&ClickType=listen&playerID=1&urlID=170971&sessionID=CDBE922546C845BE&email=&tck=GRH Regards, Nawar
