Codelco subsidiary BioSigma presented a breakthrough in copper extraction methods that signals a significant advancement in clean mining technology. The innovation is an environmentally friendly approach to metal extraction that uses organic materials, instead of the more traditional cyanide, and allows miners to extract copper from ore with minimal copper deposits.

Extracting copper from ore with only small deposits was difficult in the past and significantly limited companies’ copper extraction.
