Good post.
My aunt is a good example of this. She was a California elem school teacher for over 30 years, and now has the easy Calpers pension and a fully paid condo in Palm Springs. Living on a golf course in dry weather and taking in around $5K a month, I bet she'll live to 90 or more. That's another 20+ years and we're talking over a million dollars more of her pension. Give me a break as I love to see her comfortable, but why does a state employee deserve easy street on a country club? She also gets SS and as a widow her husband's SS share. 6 to 7 grand a month government income to support one person who could easily get by on half of that.
I know some seniors disagree but basically you have this mindset whereby young people are forced to support this system, when clearly they are not going to get anything from it later (or even now, check out the price of colleges in CA), and old people are getting way more than they need.
