LONDON--Oil production from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries fell for the third month in a row in July, on a Saudi output cut and an embargo on Iran, according to a Dow Jones Newswires survey.

Crude-oil production from the group averaged 31.45 million barrels a day in July, down about 150,000 barrels a day from 31.60 million barrels a day in June, according to the Dow Jones survey of industry sources and analysts.

The largest drop in production of 105,000 barrels a day came from Saudi Arabia. According to JBC Energy GmbH, OPEC's largest producer has finally started cutting production due to lower oil prices and overproduction.

Iran, subject to tightening sanctions against its oil exports culminating in a total European Union embargo on Iranian crude from July 1, has continued its production decline.

Its output lost 100,000 barrels a day and reached 2.9 million barrels a day, its lowest level in more than 20 years.
