He touched on my idea briefly. Basically, I think we are engaging in self imposed selective breeding (without actually trying) which is leading to greater extremes of talent in various areas.
Basically, we don't breed along all parts of the bell curve randomly.
Bright people tend to wind up with other bright people.
Beautiful people tend wind up with other beautiful people.
No matter what your specialty or talent, you are more likely to wind up with someone similar to you than extremely different. That tends to reinforce the talent and move the bell curve for that attribute to different place for a subset of the population...and on and on you go until you have extreme intelligence, musical ability, athleticism etc...
In my world (horse racing), it's done on purpose to produce more and more speed, stamina etc...
But it can happen naturally too and IMO it is, especially with intelligence.
