Like probably everyone else here, ARNA was the single bright light in my portfolio today - everything else deeply red. Good move up on strong volume, trading wasn't dominated by the HFT machines either, like it had been over the last week or two. I had Quotetracker up and running most of the day and captured pretty much every single (visible) trade - it's been a LONG time since I've seen so many distinctly singular large block trades - i.e. they weren't matched pairs of trades between machines or MM's trying to skim a couple hundredth of cents off the price.
When I say "so many large blocks" I mean way more than I'm even going to attempt to count (or download to Excel) - there were hundreds, if not thousands, of trades where the blocks were > 5000 shrs (QT lets you screen by block size). Found two whoppers when I screened >100,000, both of them also appear to be "real", as in human entered trades, likely 'tutes? Notice that both were at the bid, not the ask, and neither were on downticks - rather unusual - any significance to that?
