I'm going to call BS on this particular spin by Bill Merritt...just as I call BS on the spin the shorts spew in comparing the per patent figures to Nortel.
(I'm not saying that Bill's statement that they got good value was wrong...I just object to the way he presents it by trying to reduce the denominator by 80% with his recommendation that investors ignore all but the US patents.)
Of the patents and applications sold...there is only a subset that have any real value becuase there is only a few that can probably stand up to the scrutiny and opposition necessary to litigate them. This is true in ANY patent portfolio.
The real question is what Intel is going to do with the patents they bought...it is at that point we (outsiders) know which patents are the ones of value and can start trying to put a value on them.
