Really unlikely that Apple is in trouble here. These stories make it sound like secure virtual networks are something very new. They aren't. They are very, very old. The chances of this company being able to win a large reward from Apple are not all that good if their entire argument revolves around using a VPN to access certain sites. I was doing that in the early 90's.
These guys are patent trolls, pure and simple. If the US patent system wasn't such a huge freaking mess they wouldn't even have a claim.
