Further falls ↓Dry cargo rates lost further ground Friday as all of the major markets fell away. Hope of improved capesize activity has yet to translate to the physical market while the lull between May and June cargoes continues to hinder the panamax sector. Capesizes: FMG has doubled up out of Australia. It has grabbed the Heng Long (built 2011) and the Mineral Ningbo (built 2009) on a relet from STX Pan Ocean out of Port Hedland for Qingdao at $7.50 per ton each. BHP has fixed the K Happiness (built 2011) to ply the same route at the same price. Noble has paid up $27,500 daily for the178,100-dwt Cavaliere Grazia Bottiglieri (built 2010) out of Cape Passero for Canada and the Far East. The vessel is on a relet from Swiss Marine. Cargill’s charter of the 180,200-dwt Ocean Shine (built 2005) out of Port Lelang for the Atlantic and Singapore-Japan came at $12,500 daily. NS United has booked the 171,900-dwt Antonis Angelicoussis (built 2007) from Brazil to Singapore-Japan at $10,000 daily. Panamax: Swiss Marine has taken the Goulandris Brothers’ 73,400-dwt Zagora (built 2001) for four to six months at $10,500 daily. The 74,000-dwt Inter Pride (built 2000) has been fixed at $17,000 daily and a $700,000 bonus out of South America for Singapore-Japan. Hanjin has put up $14,500 daily and a $500,000 bonus for the 75,200-dwt GH Fortune (built 2002) out of the Gulf of Mexico for china. United will pay $14,000 daily for the 93,000-dwt Scandinavian Express (built 2010) from Ponta Da Madeira to the US Atlantic coast. Cargill has claimed the 71,400-dwt C Iris (built 1996) from the Cape of Good Hope for South America and Singapore-Japan at $12,500 daily and a $450,000 bonus. Oldendorff has taken on the 70,300-dwt Gerasimos (built 1996) from Hong Kong to Australia and Japan at $12,750 daily. CJ International has bagged the 93,100-dwt Cervia (built 2010) in Taichung for South America and Singapore-Japan at $10,000 daily. Orient Bulk has paid $8,250 daily for the 71,300-dwt Endeavour (built 1996) for an Indonesia to China trek. Supramaxes: Oldendorff has hired the 57,000-dwt Conti Pyrit (built 2011) for an Indonesia to India run at $11,000 daily and a $175,000 bonus. IVS has chartered the 57,000-dwt STX Pride (built 2011) in Kashima for the North Pacific and Singapore Japan at $9,250 daily.
