Lightwave Logic Achieves Initial Operating Capabilities of New In-House Research Facilities
--New Lab Will Speed Development of Advanced Organic Nonlinear Optical Materials --Company Also Establishing a Dedicated Testing Facility and Adding New Scientific Personnel
NEWARK, Del., June 25, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Lightwave Logic, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: LWLG), a technology company focused on the development of a Next Generation Non Linear Optical Polymer Materials Platform for applications in high speed fiber-optic data communications and optical computing, announced today that it has officially opened its new internal research lab facility in Newark, Delaware.
The new lab facility will create an ability to more easily synthesize and test its materials and will help attract a new generation of Lightwave Logic scientific professionals--a key part of the Company's development strategy going forward. Furthermore, it eliminates what had been a major impediment to the development of high quality polymer films--critical components of organic polymer based electro-optical devices.
In addition to the chemical synthesis lab, Lightwave Logic has also begun to equip a separate advanced optical laboratory at the same location where the necessary testing of material candidates will be performed as they emerge from the synthesis laboratory.
Tom Zelibor, Chief Executive Officer commented, "This checks off another milestone in the action plan outlined in my recent letter to shareholders. I want to thank our entire scientific team for their hard work in making this effort come to fruition on time and within our budget.
"This will greatly help to expedite the progress of our Company's optical device programs now in development with the assistance of Dr. Fred Leonberger our Senior Technical Advisor."
Dr. Louis Glasgow, Chief Technology Officer stated, "Our new research facility is equipped with state of the art equipment necessary to expand our ability to conduct synthesis chemistry in much more tightly controlled conditions. This is a key capability needed to unlock the full potential of our materials platform. We are currently recruiting and interviewing both a full-time synthetic chemist and a full-time optical engineer. These two individuals will be charged with the responsibility to further advance and test the properties of our Perkinamine(TM) family of materials.
"Having first-rate internal synthesis and testing capabilities is critically important to our development effort and will dramatically improve our efficiency."
"Powered by Lightwave Logic" Lightwave Logic, Inc. is a development stage company that is producing prototype electro-optic demonstration devices and is moving toward commercialization of its high-activity, high-stability organic polymers for applications in electro-optical device markets. Electro-optical devices convert data from electric signals into optical signals for use in high-speed fiber-optic telecommunications systems and optical computers.
